Business Information Management I prepares students to apply technology skills to personal and workplace business situations. Students develop mastery in using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Publisher). Additional applications will be taught as technology progresses. This course is highly recommended for preparing students for career and college entry.

Students recognize, evaluate, and prepare for a rapidly evolving global business environment that requires flexibility and adaptability. Topics incorporate a broad base of knowledge that include the legal, managerial, marketing, financial, ethical, and international dimensions of business.

This course develops proficiencies in designing, importing, and manipulating advanced text, graphics, audio, and video used in presentation management, multimedia productions, publishing systems, and emerging technologies. Students will use Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop.

This course introduces students to the basics of digital audio/video production in a hands-on approach.  Working in small groups, students create short projects using HD cameras and video editing software.  Students will also learn the history of film, radio, and television.

One aspect of Career and Technology Education is to help students develop professional behaviors and responsible attitudes toward succeeding in all aspects of life.

Below are a few “soft skills” that we will practice in these courses with each other, school faculty, and any guest speakers participating in our class each day:

  • Punctuality:  Arriving to class on time and completing the daily warm-ups on time.
  • Courtesy and Respect:  Keeping personal electronic devices out of use and of no disruption to the class.
  • Attitude:  Having a positive, motivated and determined work ethic.
  • Responsibility:  Bringing all class materials and turning in homework/classwork on time.  Being prepared and organized.
  • Creativity:  Thinking creatively and contributing original ideas, work and designs.
  • Honesty: Telling the truth and doing your own work.

Communication: Parents and students are encouraged to communicate with myself at any time with questions, comments, or concerns. My contact information is above.

Let’s have a great year!
